Olympus Unveils 8-Million-Pixel Movie Equipment

Olympus Corp. is due to market later this year cameras and other equipment to shoot, edit and screen digital movies with a resolution of 8 million pixels, four times the resolution of high-definition TV images. The portable camera shoots 30 frames per second. The company has also developed a hard disk recorder that can record up to one hour of filming. Digital movies eliminate the need to develop film. Editing and color adjustments can be conducted while the movie is being viewed on a large screen, thereby shortening the production time. Screening requires use of several projectors that are already on the market.

Wireless TV goes back to the future
It is heralded as the "world's first wireless liquid crystal television." The TV is less than 3 inches thick and has rounded stereo speakers on each side. On top are buttons for controlling volume, channel, menu, TV/video and power, though I suspect more often than not you'll use the remote control. Also on top is a built-in carrying handle. The set weighs 11 pounds without its stand. The base station and TV stay connected wirelessly through the same 802.11b technology that drives much of what passes these days for Wi-Fi.
